Castle Rock’s Black Gold, the brewery’s well balanced dark mild beer, has won first place in its category at the 2009 SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) regional beer competition held during the Nottingham CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) Robin Hood Beer Festival. Screech Owl, the latest edition to Castle Rock’s range, came second in the strong bitter category.

The judging event, on the historic Nottingham Castle Green, took place on Thursday 8 October.
