The Swan in the Rushes, one of Loughborough's longest established real ale pubs, has extended beer drinkers' choice by remodelling the downstairs bar to accommodate over 100 craft beers from all parts of the UK, Europe and the USA.

While retaining his hold on real ale and draught cider, pub landlord Phil Dawson says the new bar allows him to add five modern high tasting craft beers to the list of drinks on draught. “And with the layout, we can display all 100 of the bottled varieties and keep them in the excellent condition they demand. This is a first for Loughborough and one I know will be popular with our regulars and new customers alike.   Craft ales appeal to a wide range of tastes but it’s a trend many younger people have taken to heart.”

Regular customer, Lee Lovett, a 36 year old Loughborough milkman visiting the pub after work with his dad, found his first craft ale interesting and has gone on to try others.   “My favourites now are from BrewDog from Scotland; Chimay, the Trappist Beer and Belgium’s Duvel. This is the future,” he says.
