ROOK AND GASKILL

Previously known as the Queen's Head, this split level pub was re-christened the Rook and Gaskill Inn when it was re-opened in 2002. Since then it has earned a reputation for it's range of quality cask ales culminating in the title of York CAMRA pub of the year for 2005.

Situated just outside the ancient walls of York, the Rook and Gaskill Inn commemorates two unfortunates hanged in the 17th Century - the last two victims of the St. Leonards gallows.

In 2005 the Rook and Gaskill Inn became the first North Yorkshire hostelry to join the Castle Rock public house estate.
