Two Old Crown staff, manager Rachael Higgins and waitress, Ashley Fagan, have raised over £200 in a sponsored pub crawl in aid of the Nottinghamshire Victoria Cross Memorial Fund. The cash, from regulars at their pub in Old Dalby and from drinkers at the neighbouring Golden Fleece, Anchor, Red House and Belvoir Brewery will be added to the total from other events held across the Castle Rock pub group. Rachael says the six mile trek passed without a murmur thanks to the weather, the company and generosity of those on route. “My thanks to everyone,” she says. “Our village has a long association with the military and the villagers' generosity was outstanding.”
