Apple harvest thanksgiving
October is CAMRA’s national cider and perry month and the Lincolnshire Poacher on the Mansfield Road is celebrating by increasing its range of draught ciders and perries from the usual half dozen to a mouth watering 15.
The month will also see the pub’s sandwiches, pies, stroganoff and fish dishes include cider and perry in the ingredients.
Additions to the range include Hucknall’s Torkard Cider which takes pride in being made exclusively from fruit grown in Nottinghamshire, Three Cats cider which is made in Derbyshire, and others from the traditional cider counties of Hereford, Gloucester, Worcester and Somerset. Third pint glass samples will be available for taste comparison.
For diners, there will be freshly baked cider marinated steak baguettes, home made chicken, leek and Old Rosie Cider short crust pastry pies, and wild mushroom Stroganoff with red onions, mustard, perry and cream. “And to top it all off, there’ll be a traditional cider cake served with whipped cream,” says manager, Karen Williams.
The Lincolnshire Poacher’s cider and perry food and drink is available throughout October.
