‘Robin Hood’ makes merrie at Castle Rock Brewery
Tim Pollard, Nottingham Castle’s official Robin Hood, has joined the team of tour guides at the city’s Castle Rock Brewery.
Among the first visitors to receive his hearty welcome in the new brewery visitors’ centre were members of the Hercules Sports and Social Club, based at the British Geological Survey’s national headquarters at Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. Brewery tours now join the club members’ interests alongside tennis, darts and badminton.
Tour guests asked about the geological aspects of brewing and the impact of ground water, minerals, and chemistry on the final taste before enjoying the hospitality of the newly opened visitors’ centre bar. (They did, honest, editor).
And their reactions:
“We know a thing or two about rocks at the British Geological Survey so we thoroughly enjoyed our ‘field visit’ to Castle Rock Brewery.” (Clive)
“It was really good to get the opportunity to see the home of Harvest Pale and it’s great to see how well a small brewery like Castle Rock can prosper and even expand in this day and age – though I’m not sure you can still call them a small brewery!” (Kevin)
“Many thanks for last night. It was an excellent evening and the best informed brewery tour I’ve been on so far. The beer and the company weren’t bad either.” (Ivan)
“Thanks… here’s to the next one.” (Jonathan)
