30 extra ales at the B&B

Nottingham’s other October beer festival, this time at the Bread and Bitter pub on Mapperley Top from Thursday 23 October, saw 2,000 tasty pints supped and enjoyed before supplies ran out on Sunday.

As one of the next best festivals in town after the highly successful event at Nottingham Castle the weekend before, 30 guest ales from the midlands, Wales and the south of England were available alongside the pub’s usual 11 handpulled ales. Organiser John Francis says: “We may not have offered quite so many beers, but the choice was wide and included many new to Nottingham drinkers. First to go was Glaslyn ale from Y Bragby Mws Piws, the Purple Moose Brewery in North Wales. It’s a measure of our customers savoir faire, as this was probably new to them. It was certainly its first appearance here.”
