Here you will find anything and everything you need to know about visiting our pubs. Opening times, bookings and walk-ins, ordering online and other FAQs are explained here.

It’s wonderful to be able to open our doors to everyone again and we’re looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces.

Of course, things are a little different post-lockdown and our priority is keep our customers and colleagues safe. To do this, we’re providing a contactless ordering system, operating a strict cleaning regime and a ‘Fit to Work’ scheme among many other things. We’re also encouraging customers to pre-book where possible.

Every change we have made is with you in mind. We believe visiting the pub should be a respite, so we want to make sure we re-open smoothly and safely.

We’ll be updating this page as things evolve, so please continue to check back for any updates. In the meantime, please be patient with our colleagues and bear with us while we put all of this into practice for the first time. We cannot stress enough how important it us to us that we get this right – and that may mean taking our time and proceeding carefully and with care.

Please scroll down for general information and some more pub-specific FAQs.

The September 23rd update

A reminder of the new procedures (most of which are now law), which apply from Thursday 24th September 2020.

  1. You (and your party) will be greeted and asked to check in using the NHS QR code. If you cannot access this, your group lead will be asked to register their name, entry time and party size. We will be displaying signage.
  2. Last orders will be called at 21:30 and all customers must be off-site by 10pm.
  3. You will be required to wear a face mask/covering when entering the pub, and while moving around the pub (including using the toilet)
  4. All front of house staff will also wear a face mask/covering.
  5. The Rule of Six must be adhered to. No more than six people can sit at a table (this includes children). Please do not try and book multiple tables for larger groups.
  6. We will be operating table service only both inside and out. There will be no service at the bar and you must remain seated when at your table.
  7. Wedding receptions are limited to a maximum of 15.
  8. House rules unaffected by the changes still apply

The September 18th update

Please note that:

  • We must take details from every person entering our premises.  This applies to aged 16+ but children must be included in size of party.
  • Anyone refusing to give details will be refused entry.
  • The “Rule of Six” must be adhered to. We will only allow a maximum of six people per table, including children

What we’re doing

• Monitoring reduced capacities.
• All staff have undergone training in CV-19 safety procedures.
• PPE is provided for all staff.
• All staff receive temperature checks before their shift and must be logged as fit to work.
• Where numbers allow it, pub staff are divided into shift teams.
• Encouraging our customers to book in advance to reduce wait times. (Keep scrolling to see booking info for your local.)
• Pubs that allow it have one-way systems in place.
• Doors are open where possible, with kick plates where not.
• Where able, we have extended beer gardens into other areas.
• Sanitiser is available throughout the pub for your use.
• Enforcing physical distancing – please be considerate.
• Introducing a maximum stay time in certain pubs to ensure all customers get to enjoy the pub.
• Providing an online ordering system to minimise contact and to help us provide an efficient service.
• Encouraging our customers to pay via contactless or online.
• Asking customers to place all their used glasses into green baskets to minimise contact.
• Pubs serving food will have limited menus to reduce wait times and food wastage.
• Menus will be sanitised regularly, along with all tables and other commonly touched surfaces.

What you can expect

• To be greeted by a member of staff on arrival.
• To provide your details as per government policy upon entry (if you haven’t already), including a telephone number. We would prefer you use the NHS COVID19 App but we can take details manually if needed.
• To sanitise your hands upon entry,  before leaving the pub, and regularly during your visit.
• Chance of increased wait times if you have not booked in advance.
• To order via a waiter or online (ie. table service only, no waiting at the bar).
• Seating to encourage physical distancing, as well as physical distancing in queues (ie. for the WC).
• Some pubs may have reduced opening hours.
• Some pubs may temporarily suspend food service, while others will have reduced menus.

Booking in Advance

All of our pubs are accepting walk-ins, however we strongly recommend that you book in advance where possible as this is the only way you can guarantee a table. This will also reduce your chances of having to wait to be seated and allow us to plan and prepare more effectively. Please note, government policy requires us to take your details upon entry however if you book in advance, we will already have your details and queuing times will be reduced, as will contact.

Though preferred booking methods differ from site to site, these terms and conditions apply to all Castle Rock pubs. Please scroll down for details on how to book at your Castle Rock local.

House Rules

We have a series of House Rules which we kindly ask that all customers follow. These are subject to change as guidelines and laws change.
