UPDATE 26/6 18:00
Since the government announcement on pub re openings we have been extremely busy turning guidelines into pragmatic plans and procedures. We really can’t wait to get our pubs back open but the safety of our teams and our customers is paramount, and we need to make sure each of our pubs can open safely, and viably. Therefore, please do bear with us while we work on these plans.
We’re working out the best procedures for booking and capacity management. This includes an online table booking system that we’re working on with local company Gigantic. While this will not be the only way you can visit our pubs, it’ll be the best way to guarantee a table on the day and time of your choice – and pre-booking will be really helping us to prepare. This will go live during the w/c 29th June.
Brewing and beers
For trade and customers alike, we’ve got a really diverse range of tasty beer ready and waiting in the cold store for you to try. If you’re in the trade and wish to order our beer, please use our booking form HERE or emai firstname.lastname@example.org
Watch this space – we’ve got loads of new recipes we can’t wait to try out on the brewing kit too.
Safety and protocols
Our teams and our customers are our priority and we’re doing all we can to ensure that our pubs are as safe as they can be. This will include a host of new procedures and protocols and these will be fully communicated both online and in our pubs. We’re working with our managers and colleagues to ensure they have all the guidance, support and training they need. Don’t worry though, we’ll also do our best to ensure your return to our pubs is as comfortable and lovely as ever.
Please regularly check our website and social media feeds, both of which will be used for official communications and updates.

We’ve added three more tasty beers to our drive-thru portfolio: Black Gold our mild, Sheriff’s Tipple, a classic session bitter and In Bloom, a pale ale dry hopped with experimental hop HBC692 and Loral for fruity aromas.
A reminder that our house wine Les Boules is also now available, with red, white and rose available!
UPDATE 08/4 21:20 – Drive-thru
We are seeing demand with our drive-thru service increase at an incredibly quick rate. The eagle-eyed among you may have noticed we’ve had to make regular tweaks to the collection times to ensure we can provide the best possible service in-line with the extremely high demand.
The service is still in its early stages, and we’re ironing out any creases as we go to ensure the service is as smooth as possible. We will be making tweaks to the service as we go but all the relevant information will be posted on the shop page.
We can confirm that we’ve added Les Boules wine to the list of items to order; with red, white and rose available. There are also plans to expand even further into other beers, but we will keep you updated as we go.
We would like thank each and every customer for their support, and if you want to check out what we’ve got on offer, visit www.castlerockbreweryshop.com
UPDATE 04/4 18:30 – MSR / Castle Rock deliveries
We are delighted with the support shown from our customers with our drive-thru service, having sold almost 2000 pints to customers this past Thursday-Saturday. However, for those who do not have a car or are unable to click and collect, we’re pleased to announce a partnership with our friends at MSR Newsgroup, who can now deliver bottles of Castle Rock beer to not only its newspaper customers but those in the Nottingham area and a little further out too. You can find out more information including how to order here: https://www.carltontownfc.co.uk/news/msr-to-start-castle-rock-deliveries-this-weekend-and-tonights-photo-from-tim-is-a-classic/
UPDATE 03/4 18:00 – Castle Rock colleagues share mental health advice
This crisis has been a difficult time for many, and we’ve all had our own ways of trying to deal with the strange new circumstances in which we are living. Internally, we’re trying to keep in touch with the Castle Rock Family regularly, and were really amazed when they came up with a number of wonderful ways that they’re keeping their mental wellbeing on point, where they can. Read more about it here: https://www.castlerockbrewery.co.uk/wellbeing-tips/
UPDATE 30/3 08:24 – Hardship fund
Thanks to the early sacrifice of the senior staff and directors, as well as a set of accounts well managed by our teams, we have been able to set a pot aside for our most vulnerable staff during this uncertain time. We also fully intend to pay all suppliers on Tuesday 31st and will be able to pay staff their 80% in April even if we have not by then received the funding.
We’re still not out the woods of course; this is an unsettling time and we’re still expecting to have to make some very difficult decisions. But we’re proud that we’re working hard to do what we set out to do – look after the Castle Rock Family and our suppliers.
UPDATE 27/3 23:19 – Takeout service restored
After careful consideration, we’ve decided to trial a collection only drive-thru based at our brewery. To start with, we’re offering a small range of Castle Rock beer to takeaway in 5L, 10L or 20L polypins, along with cases of Elsie Mo, Screech Owl and Harvest Pale bottles and 5L mini-kegs of Session.
We’ve undertaken a thorough risk assessment and feel we’re put procedures in place to minimise the risks. You can find more information about the order process and our health and safety procedures here: https://www.castlerockbrewery.co.uk/takeout-information/
Due to the constantly changing nature of this situation, we may need to amend or even suspend this service at short notice – so please enjoy and hopefully we can keep it going!
UPDATE 25/3 22:10 – Shop suspended
You may have read that the government have added off licences (including breweries with a licence) to the list of exceptions during the current UK lockdown. We immediately closed our online shop and pub takeout/delivery services yesterday as we we wanted to undertake a full risk assessment to ensure we weren’t putting ourselves or our customers at risk. Now that we have this government update, we will be looking to fully review our takeouts and delivery services – so watch this space!
We will be working on this over the next few days and all being well, you’ll have some delicious beer supplied by us in your fridge soon!
UPDATE 24/3 10:10 – Shop and pub takeout suspended
UPDATE 23/3 11:10 – Pubs closed 2
Just a reminder that all Castle Rock pubs are now closed until further notice.
HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean you can’t get your hands on delicious beer. Stay tuned – we’re working really hard to get a really good take-out offer to you guys both in draft and in can, bottle and keg.
While we sort out a more permanent solution, in the meantime please get in touch with your local Castle Rock pub and find out more about what they’re offering on a take-out basis. We can arrange zero contact collections, and in some cases, delivery.
A reminder that this situation is changing daily so please keep checking back.
UPDATE 20/3 20:25 – Pubs closed 1
As most will have read or heard, the government has ordered the closure of all pubs in the UK. At the moment, we know about as much as everyone else in terms of the details, but we will keep everyone as updated as possible.
What we do know is that we will do everything we can to look after the Castle Rock family (customers and colleagues) and we truly thank you for your support up until now, and we hope for it during these strange times too.
We don’t need to tell you how much we love pubs. Looking at the upset and sorrow the mass closure has caused it is quite clear how vital they are to our society. So when this has settled down, expect us to be banging the drum on supporting local pubs even louder!
We’re going to work hard on ideas to keep us all motivated, busy and happy. Send us all your suggestions on social media.
In the meantime:
- Support our brewery by visiting our online shop and ordering some delicious beer
- Support our pubs by taking advantage of their lovely takeout options (food and beer – watch this space or call the pub)
- Keep an eye out for updates…
We hope you will continue to support indie pubs and breweries like ours, especially at times like this.
UPDATE 16/3 – Yard party postponed
It is with regret that we have to announce the postponement of Castle Rock’s annual Yard Party in light of the Coronavirus outbreak. All ticket holders will shortly be contacted by Gigantic but we ask you to hold on to them if we can; our plan is to reschedule in September and your tickets will still be valid! Watch this space as we’ll be confirming the new date as soon as we are able.
