Swan in the Rushes

Located in Loughborough near the town’s Rushes Shopping Centre, the Swan in the Rushes is a large two floor establishment. The pub has a traditional two-room layout: a lounge on the left with local and national newspapers, and a bar area on the right with jukebox and quiz machine. A rustic rooftop beer garden is tucked away towards the back of the Swan – perfect for whiling away a warm afternoon.
Prior to joining the Castle Rock family, the Swan was known as the Charnwood public house. Closed and seemingly unwanted, Castle Rock saw its potential, renamed the pub, and reopened the doors to a thirsty public. Over the thirty years since, the Swan has remained an integral part of Loughborough’s real ale scene, offering ten cask ales with one dedicated mild line, and now hosts a Charnwood Brewery tap takeover on the last Thursday of each month. Five real ciders are also available, alongside spirits, wines, 15+ craft beers, and 30+ single malt whiskies.
The more you explore the rooms of the Swan, the more you are enticed by a unique mixture of old and new. The ground floor houses a family/dining room at the exterior of the building, while on the first floor a contemporary bar – the Hop Loft – is available to hire. The Hop Loft is a spacious, multi-purpose room with a private world beer bar, plasma screen, and free Wi-Fi – perfect for a variety of events and celebrations. New: Resident Artist at the Swan
The Swan in the Rushes have come up with a fantastic idea: to use their pub to showcase the artwork of local artists.
They’re currently looking for talented individuals to feature as their first resident artist for the duration of April.
The Swan will give the artist a blackboard for them to do their thing on, and it’ll be displayed in the pub for a month.
