The Nottingham Restaurant & Bar Awards is now in its second year and there’s a new voting category which has got us all excited here at Castle Rock. As well as being able to vote for the likes of your favourite bar, pub, outdoor space or service team, you can now also vote for your favourite real ale pub in the city, too.
As a brewery and pub group, being able to get your hands on the best beer around is something we take very seriously. Castle Rock was founded on one core principal: to create a friendly, welcoming pub and serve high quality beer. That was way-back-when, when Chris Holmes (Castle Rock’s founder and chairman of CAMRA) decided he was fed up with the poor quality of pubs and beer on offer.
Lots has changed since then, but our fundamental objectives have always been the same. The standards we set for our own beers are incredibly high (cask ale or otherwise) but when it comes to our pubs, it’s never just been about our own beers. We like to think people trust Castle Rock to bring you the best choice of beer, from local, national and international brewers.
We have brewery tours almost every Saturday. On the 29th of this month, the Horse and Plough will be hosting the brewers of Tynt Meadow, the UK’s first trappist brewery. Last month we had Roger Protz at the Fox and Crown, talking about the history of beer. Our own brewers are giving more and more talks and tasting sessions. We can see how much you guys care about the industry and we hope our passion shines through, too.
If it does – please give us a vote! The nominated venues will be visited anonymously and judged by a panel of independent judges. It’s all a bit new to us, but bring it on! Thanks to all our lovely customers, everyone that has and will support us. And here’s to plenty more good beer in the future!
