Tasting note & food match by ALL BEER
| BLACK GOLD | 3.8% ABV | |
![]() |
A well balanced dark mild ale with some bitterness, full bodied, but not overly sweet. An award winning mild that delivers a light fresh taste to one of the more traditional of beer styles.
|
|
| ELSIE MO | 4.7% ABV | |
![]() |
Elsie Mo’s name is derived from the low colour Maris Otter Malt from which she’s exclusively brewed, and which gives her that tantalising golden hue. A blend of hops – Challenger predominating – tempts you with its aroma and leaves a pleasantly crisp aftertaste. | |
| HARVEST PALE | 3.8% ABV | |
![]() |
Described by esteemed beer writer Roger Protz as… “The finest blond beer I’ve drunk in many a year”, Harvest Pale is brewed with a gently-kilned malt, and an aromatic blend of American hops added during the brewing process gives this 3.8% alc pale beer exceptional poise. Its distinct hop flavour leads to a crisp finish. Harvest Pale has firmly established itself as Castle Rock’s Flagship Beer. SIBA National Champion Bitter 2004 and Champion Bitter of Britain 2007.

|
| HEMLOCK | 4.0% ABV | |
![]() |
The ‘superstar’ of quaffing ales, Hemlock is a mid-strength, full-flavoured bitter with fruity notes on the palate and a smack of hops in the finish. This is the ‘foundation stone’ of the Castle Rock portfolio and has impressed drinkers up and down the country with it’s robust characteristics. And for the record it’s named after the local ‘Hemlock’ standing stone, not the poisonous plant that killed the philosopher Socrates!

|
| SCREECH OWL | 5.5% ABV | |
![]() |
Originally one of the 12 ‘Natural Selection’ brews back in October 2008 to support the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust’s Adopt a Species Campaign, it immediately won the Society of Independent Brewers (Midlands) Supreme Champion Beer award at the Robin Hood Beer Festival and followed this success by winning the SIBA National Strong Bitter Title. Brewed to export strength this strong well hopped India Pale Ale has become a firm favourite with followers of the style. ALL BEER reference |

| SHERIFF’S TIPPLE | 3.5% ABV | |
![]() |
A ‘supping’ bitter with a distinctive hop character derived from Goldings. Slightly darker than the Nottingham Gold beer which it has replaced. Currently brewed for us by Tower Brewery in Burton on Trent whilst we plan the expansion of the Castle Rock site in the centre of Nottingham.
|
|
| PRESERVATION | 4.4% ABV | |
![]() |
Brewed to the traditional East Midlands style. Mid-brown / reddish easy drinking full flavoured best bitter is well rounded with some residual sweetness which is balanced with a resinous hop character. A hugely popular beer that deserves to be savoured!
