The Embankment boasts six versatile spaces available for private hire, ranging from smaller intimate rooms to larger, more dynamic spaces. Located near the River Trent, The Embankment is on public transport routes providing ease of access for all visitors. With a scenic beer garden and distinguished historic features, we are a beautiful location for a variety of events. We can provide anything from a small and special dinners to a large-scale events including corporate and wedding ceremonies. The Embankment team are passionate and experienced and will work with you to ensure your event runs smoothly.

Skittles alleys like this are hard to come by. Dating back to at least the 1970s, to our knowledge it’s the only alley with original features like these in Nottingham. Located downstairs, the room also boasts a small bar and craft beer fridge. The ultimate place for parties for small to medium groups, looking for an area all to themselves.

  • The Skittles Alley houses a small bar with a lager, cider and IPA option alongside a fridge containing house wines, soft drinks and a number of spirit options.
  • The Skittles Alley is perfectly suited to accommodate small to medium parties.
  • For skittles playing: up to 28 guests can attend with space for central skittles playing, space for a buffet and option for a staffed bar.
  • For other events: the space can also be used for small parties of all types, and the capacity increases to up to 40 without use of the Skittles Alley. The inclusion of sound systems, fairy lights and the option for a manned bar make this space perfect for smaller birthday parties or intimate celebrations.
  • The Ballroom adjoined to the Skittles Alley can be used to hold a buffet station, maximising the space available.

The Embankment often use the Skittles Alley to hold comedy nights, movie nights and to host board-game enthusiasts! The space is also used as an exclusive fan-area for Forest matches.


The Ballroom is an open and airy room perfect for hosting large group-based activities such as dancing, theatre practise, yoga classes. With a wall-length mirror and large dancefloor, the room is also perfect for many other low-key classes. There is no bar nor toilets in this room which makes it ideal for group-activities but not parties.

  • This room could also be used alongside the skittles alley to hold a buffet or as an extra space to host an extra activity.
  • When hiring the Skittles Alley and Ballroom together, the downstairs capacity can increase up to 55-60.

On a Monday evening this room is often used to host an evening salsa class. The space is also currently used for theatre practises.



The conservatory is a light and airy room perfect for smaller or summer events; when the sun sets, the conservatory transforms into an intimate, twinkly affair with fairy lights draping from the ceiling. The conservatory also has its own entrance and exists meaning guests can pop to the bar or enjoy the beer garden as they please.

  • Sits up to 26 or 30 standing.

The Embankment Running Club (which is a separate entity to the pub!) use this room on a regular basis for private post-run food and drinks.



Named after the street the Embankment resides on, the Arkwright room celebrates Nottingham’s rich history. This multi-use space is superb for meals and larger groups as there is plenty of room to set up the tables how you wish. It is self-contained, with direct access the main bar, pub garden and bathroom facilities.

  • This room is best used for wakes or private parties.
  • This room is also ideal for large restaurant bookings as the furniture is more versatile.
  • There is seating for up to 30, or 50 standing. Seating numbers may reduce depending on décor or entertainment.

Once upon a time, the Jesse Boot room was the office of Mr Boot. These days, it is still regularly used for corporate gatherings. Tucked away upstairs and bursting with original features, it is brilliant for meetings. Next door, the Lord Trent room is excellent for larger conferences.

The upstairs function rooms at the Embankment are also perfect for parties, anniversary celebrations and Christenings. Buffets can be laid out in the Jesse Boot room, leaving the Lord Trent room open and spacious.


  • The Lord Trent room can be hired out for larger events including weddings, birthday parties, wakes and large corporate events.
  • It boasts a large space for a dance floor while accommodating for surrounding seating areas and space for DJ, live bands, or singers.
  • Sits up to 90, or 140 standing, making the Lord Trent Room ideal for full day weddings and evening receptions.
  • A private bar and bathroom facilities are included with this room.
  • For large evening parties and weddings, the Jesse Boot Room is included with the event booking.


  • The Jesse Boot room is a smaller space used independently or alongside the Trent room.
  • For independent use, the Jesse Boot room is perfect for smaller corporate events, intimate wedding ceremonies and sit-down meals, seating up to 20 for dining or 30 for ceremonies.
  • For corporate events the Jesse Boot room can hold a screen, projector and coffee station.
  • When used in conjunction with the Lord Trent room: this space is perfect for a buffet to leave the Lord Trent room open and free.
  • The Jesse Boot room can also be used to host other activities during events, such as acting as a breakout room for people needing a break from the dance floor or as an area to host some small games for children and adults alike!


The Dispensary

The Dispensary is one half of the pub and can be hired out for private use subject to availability.

  • Best hired out for private birthday parties with potential for a dance floor and space for a DJ or live musician.
  • The Dispensary allows direct access to a bar and private toilets.
  • The capacity for the Dispensary is 70, although please note the inclusion of a DJ and dancefloor will reduce seating.
