Join us for a night of celebration as we launch “Ripples”, our Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust x Murphy & Son collab brew. Be the first to try the beer, and help raise money to protect wildlife in the future.

Save the date: Thursday 17th August at the Old Cold Store next to the Vat and Fiddle. We have a quiz, speeches, a raffle and more lined up for you all!
ALL PROFITS GO TO THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE WILDLIFE TRUST
Earlier this month, we got together with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and Murphy & Son to create “Ripples”. Brewed on the Pilot Project, the idea was to create a cleaner, more sustainable beer. To do this we made small changes, like using a fast-fermenting yeast strain to reduce energy and using enzymatic cleaners to sterilise the brew kit. We hope to be able to apply some of these processes to our main kit in the future. We’ll have a short video about this on the night (which will also be available on our YouTube channel for anyone interested)!
Read more about the collab below.
ABOUT THE LAUNCH:
Doors open: 6pm: Join us at doors open to try the beer first, or order dinner from the main bar.
Event starts: 7pm: Includes a welcome and video about the beer. The quiz kicks off at 7:30pm, followed by a raffle and an auction.
Over 18’s only. Places are limited, so we recommend booking your tickets as soon as you are able.
Tickets include entry for your table of four to six, which will also be your quiz team. You will also have the option to select add ons, such as a jug of beer or a sharing platter for your table when you purchase your ticket.
All profits go to Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
Hosted by Al Needham, the quiz includes a round written by the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust.
Then comes the raffle. Tickets are a £1, or £5 for a strip. Prizes range from event tickets (including Splendour and a Rock City gig of your choice) to beers, whisky and wine.
We end the night with an auction and a chance to brew a beer with us on the Pilot Project. The Pilot Project is our tiny brew kit, the very same that this collaboration beer, Ripples, was brewed on!
A massive thank you to the wonderful local businesses that donated a prize: DHP Family, The Whisky Shop, Navigation Brewery, Sneinton Cider Company, The Sauce Shop, Dandy Gent and more to be announced.
ABOUT THE BEER:
The name: Ripples
The recipe: A cleaner, more sustainably brewed pale ale with UK hops and Kviek yeast
The vessel: Cask
We have been partnered with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust for more than 20 years now. Through creative projects like our series of ‘Natural Selection’ beers, which championed wildlife as part of the Trust’s Adopt a Species campaign and gave rise to over 100 beers including the ever-popular Screech Owl, we have raised over £130,000 together to support nature.
Our alliance with the Trust began, like many of our stories, over a beer. Erin McDaid, Head of Communications and Marketing at the Trust met up with our founder, Chris Holmes, with the hope to combine two of his passions: wildlife and beer. Over two decades later, our friendship with the Trust is stronger than ever, and we’re always chatting about what we can do next.
Enter Murphy & Son, a local supplier to the brewing industry, who partnered with the Trust back last year. We’ve worked with Murphy’s on countless occasions. Only last March, their technical sales representative Stephanie Brindley kindly volunteered their services at our International Women’s Day event, providing workshops on beer ingredients to local women who joined us to help brew our IWD23 beer. At the time, we discussed some new products they had which could help make the brewing process more environmentally friendly. So, the idea to collaborate as a threesome with the Trust to make a cleaner, more sustainable beer came naturally.
We can’t wait to celebrate the launch with everyone. Tickets are extremely limited, so book yours now here!
