If you didn’t know already, the Pilot Project is our small-scale brew kit where we cook up all kinds of experimental, fun and interesting beers. We also make use of the kit by collaborating with friends and people from across the industry, as well as other breweries.

So, this week, to celebrate Robin Hood Beer and Cider Festival 2023, the Barley Twist is putting on an extra-special Pilot Project Beer Showcase!

Throughout the week, two taps will be dedicated solely to showcasing Pilot Project beers. Harvest Pale (Kveik Edition) on cask, and three rotating keg beers. Read on for more…

Starting Line Up:

Harvest Pale (Kveik Edition) – 4.5%

A new twist on an old favourite! Bags of citrus flavour and lightly spicy notes coming from the Norwegian yeast. Available in cask only.

Pilot Project x Lock 15: Musson’s Boom – 5.5%

Our first up in keg! A peanut butter porter, named (like all Lock 15 beers), after a local catastrophe. This one relates to an explosion in 1818, devastatingly close to the building which later became the Canalhouse. Brewed with chocolate malt, cacao nibs, cold brew coffee and peanut butter extract. Peanut butter aroma, smooth coffee and chocolate to taste. (Contains no real nuts.)

In the Cellar (keg):

Pilot Project x Hop Idol 2023: Enkelmouse – 5.8%

Brewed with the winners of this year’s Hop Idol homebrew competition. This Belgian-inspired beer is light, clean and easy-drinking. Expect a delicate floral hop aroma and banana and clove notes from the Belgian yeast.

Märzen 6.1%

A full-bodied dark amber festbier, cold-conditioned for six weeks. Caramel and toffee malt flavours are balanced with crisp, grassy hop notes for a ridiculously drinkable brew!

Pilot Project x Kean’s Head: Radler – 3.2%

A super refreshing, low-ABV lager packed full of lemony goodness.
