THE FOX AND CROWN WIN NEWARK CAMRA’S PUB OF THE YEAR AND CIDER PUB OF THE YEAR, WHILE THE HORSE AND PLOUGH ALSO GAIN THE ACCOLADE OF VALE OF BELVOIR CAMRA’S PUB OF THE YEAR

Last Thursday we spent the evening in Newark, celebrating a double win bestowed on The Fox and Crown by their local CAMRA branch.

Between finding out the Fox had received two awards and planning a date for the ceremony – we received the great news that the Horse and Plough had also bagged an award.

The Fox and Crown and Horse and Plough both received awards naming them Pub of the Year by their local CAMRA branches. The Fox and Crown gained the title of Cider pub of the Year, too.

Needless to say we are incredibly proud of both pubs, and the pleasure was all ours to attend the Award Ceremony and celebration at the Fox. The turn-out was brilliant, the pub lively with live music, and a cake baked specially for the night stood out a treat amongst the buffet.

Just Beer, Newark CAMRA’s previous Pub of the Year winners, were this year’s runner ups, and also shared in the celebrations. CAMRA presented cheques to both of the pub’s chosen charities. Both Newark Community First Aid and FREED Beeches will receive money raised for their life saving work.

The date is yet to be set for the awards ceremony to celebrate the Horse and Plough’s win, but watch this space as we’ll be sure to keep you updated. Another night of food, fun, a few celebratory drinks and a hats up to our staff whom have done us proud again.
