The Pilot Project is made up of a few key components:
And you have the Pilot Project! An ever-evolving repertoire of limited edition beers. Our only aim is to learn from each one.
For this, we use a small-scale brew kit, capable of producing 160 litre brews (280 pints) per brew, compared to 65HL (11,000 pints) in our main brewing facility.
Working with a smaller kit and smaller quantities allows us to develop and hone our skills, take risks and try new things.
With each brew, Danny checks something else off his list. From brand new, experimental hops to fruit-heavy sours, to nailing the perfect base pastry stout recipe. And all for the benefit of creating something exciting and potentially ground-breaking for our customers to drink!
Each week, these freshly brewed, limited-run beers are available for you to try on keg or cask at the Barley Twist. At least, for those who are fast enough to catch them…
Pilot Project brews are launched every Wednesday from 4-6pm and you have the chance to come and talk to our brewer, give feedback, and of course, try the latest brew. Find out more about our upcoming events here.
There is also a canning machine on site, so beer to go is super easy and extremely tempting!
