Real ale oasis in Derby city centre
The Alexandra was built around 1890 and is named after the Danish princess who married the Prince of Wales (later Edward VII) in 1863. The bar is now adorned with railway memorabilia, the lounge with breweriana to remind us of the heritage around.The pub was the birthplace of Derby CAMRA in 1974 and has won several awards including Derby CAMRA City Pub of the Year – runner up in 2011.
The Alexandra hotel offers an ever changing selection of six to eight guest ales from micro-breweries plus the regular Harvest Pale ale, all supported with a wide range of the usual drinks both soft and alcoholic. We also sell over fifty bottled beers from around the world with the emphasis on them being tasty rather than lagers from lots of countries!
The hotel has four en-suite Bed & Breakfast rooms available for let each warmly furnished and provided with hospitality facilities and a flatscreen TV / DVD player. A night entrance / exit is provided for residents use to come and go as they please. A full English breakfast is offered to guests at the weekend.
Situated very close to Derby railway station but still central, the Alex is perfect for visitors’ and residents alike.
