Delicate and refreshing Extra Pale Ale. Easy drinking with subtle notes of tropical fruit, citrus and pine on the nose, a beautifully  soft  mouthfeel and a satisfying crisp finish.

3.4% ABV – available now in cask in our pubs and beyond.

The intention behind this beer was to brew a high quality, lower ABV, aromatic pale. Something that we can offer to customers at an affordable price during tough financial times. Each of our pubs has also had their own pump clip developed for the beer, representing Our House as their own “house” pale; affordable and full of great flavour.

It’s an Extra Pale Ale, very low in colour, brewed with some of our favourite hops and fermented with our house yeast culture. It has turned out to be a very flavoursome and refreshing ale that we are really pleased with.

Our House is brewed with Citra leaf hops on the hot side, with the majority of these hops stacked into the hopback addition, giving the beer a subtle, balancing bitterness, and a nice amount of late hop flavour.  We have then dry hopped using Ekuanot hops in the fermenting vessel. The beer is dry hopped at a relatively low rate of 2g/l, adding delicate citrus and tropical aromas.

The malt grist is nice and simple, comprising pretty much entirely of Lager (also known as Extra Pale Ale) Malt, with a couple of sacks of torrefied wheat for head retention and lacing. There is also a relatively large addition of Calcium Chloride brewing salts made to the malt grist to smooth out the mouthfeel and round off bitterness. We have fermented this beer with our house yeast culture leaving the beer with a clean and crisp finish.

This beer is made for the pub and should pair perfectly with time well spent with good people in your local. In terms of food, with it’s lower ABV and delicate flavours, it could also pair well with simple, lower intensity food like bread, cheese, salad and potatoes. I’m thinking along the lines of a simple chip and/or cheese cob or a Ploughman’s with some fresh lettuce and a dash of balsamic for texture and contrast.

A massive thanks, as always, for supporting pubs and the amazing thing that is cask ale; the freshest and most social way to enjoy great beer.
