The Electric Van Experience

Nottingham City Council’s Electric Van Experience (EVE) has allowed us to trial an electric van to assist our beer runs around the city.

Although we have always been interested in reducing our environmental impact (winning Visit Nottingham’s award for most ethical, responsible and sustainable business at the Nottinghamshire Hospitality STARS Awards two years on the trot 2018-9), we are currently remodelling our environmental plan to help reduce our impact on the planet.

As such, we are delighted with the opportunity to trial an electric van. Our hope is that EVE will help us understand how electric vehicles will work within our fleet.

The Trial

EVE is a Transport Nottingham scheme which gives local businesses a chance to hire their electric vehicles.

With the governments ban on new petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030, and our own city’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2028, this is more important than ever.

To begin with, this trial will see us using the EV to complete inner-city journeys. Although we can’t yet use electric vehicles on routes farther afield, stop-start journeys are often worse for the environment so this will still have a really positive impact.

We’re super excited to taking one more small step towards helping Nottingham become a leading sustainable city.
