We have two important messages for Castle Rock pub customers in relation to the nationwide campaign, Drop the Tap Tax.
On Friday 9th October, all Castle Rock pubs will be selling pints of Harvest Pale for 50p less than usual. Why? Because across the UK, selected venues – including all Castle Rock pubs – are pouring pints at Germany’s lower tax rates to highlight how much could be saved by dropping the tap tax, otherwise known as beer duty.
Drop the Pint Day means that Castle Rock customers can enjoy a discounted pint of Harvest Pale in all our pubs this Friday. But for pubs and breweries across the UK, the campaign goes deeper than that.
*All Castle Rock managed houses will have one firkin (9 gallons) of Harvest Pale to sell at a discounted rate on Friday 9th October 2026. The offer is available on a first-come-first-served basis while stocks last. We have the right to withdraw this offer at any time. 18+ only. Please always drink responsibly.
Community pubs and independent breweries face the brunt of the unfair tax burden that is UK beer duty. Last year alone, the UK lost 137 breweries. At the same time we are seeing an average of two pubs close per day. Clearly, something needs to change.
Lower tax on beer doesn’t just make your night at the pub more affordable, it helps support jobs, generates local spending, and keeps independently brewed beer on the bar for customers to enjoy.
To raise awareness and in support of the #DropTapTax campaign, we are reducing the cost of Harvest Pale to match the customer cost of a pint if UK beer duty was reduced to the German level, which is 10 times less than the UK level.
But it doesn’t stop there. For this to have any impact when it comes to the upcoming budget, we need your help.
We are asking you to support the campaign, helping breweries and pubs up and down the country, by taking a minute to sign the petition and write to your MP, pushing the Chancellor to announce a reduction in the tax applied to pub beer.
