On Monday 24th March 2025 the Swan in the Rushes will be transferred to Punch Taverns.
The Swan in the Rushes has been a prominent part of the Castle Rock family for almost 40 years. It is a pub which we have cherished, nurtured and loved. And it will be very missed by us all.
We have taken this difficult decision as we believe it offers the Swan the best opportunity to continue serving as a beloved pub for many years to come.
Our colleagues at the Swan have already been informed and are enthusiastic about what the future will hold for them. Not least because all of their jobs are secured, and Punch already have plans to invest over £50,000 into the pub.
Unfortunately, the extra costs that April will bring have made it unlikely that we could keep the pub profitable into the new financial year under the existing trading model. Instead, the sale will allow us to release sparse central resource and reassign this to the support and development of our other pubs.
We wish the Swan and its team a bright future and we won’t be strangers.
