Digby Pearson, founder and owner of the independent record label Earache Records, is our next local hero to be honoured with a Nottinghamian Celebration Ale. And what better place is there for drinkers to taste it first than at Beerache, an unmissable one-night-only summer party taking place on July 12th at the Maze on Mansfield Road?
‘Digby Pearson’, the beer, recognises how Clifton-born Digby created Earache and went on to release some of the first extreme metal recordings, remaining a permanent fixture in Nottingham since the label was formed over 25 years ago.
Rockers and metalheads from near and far are invited to come and celebrate Beerache at the Maze, where there will be live performances from EVIL:DETH (featuring members of LAWNMOWER DETH with guest vocalist DR SHOCKER HELL), SKELETRON, SAVAGE MESSIAH, and DICK VENOM & THE TERRORTONES.
Digby Pearson says: ” Wow! A Digby Pearson beer – who would have thunk it? Feels great to be sharing pump space with the likes of Su Pollard and Carl Froch. Thanks to Castle Rock for recognising and supporting metal!! Cheers everyone!”
‘Digby Pearson’ is Castle Rock’s 16 Nottinghamian Celebration Ale. Digby Pearson was chosen for his continuing contributions to the local music scene and to the hardcore metal scene in general. The beer is a 4.2% American-style red ale with ‘New World’ hops from New Zealand, which are known for their intense fruit and citrus flavours.
The Beerache Summer Party will take place at The Maze on Mansfield Road on 12th July, with doors opening at 7:30pm. The party will be summer/beach themed, so guests are encouraged to dress accordingly! Tickets are just £3 in advance or £5 on the door, with proceeds going to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
