The winners of the 10th Castle Rock Beer of the Year awards as in!

Overall Brewery of the Year: NORTH RIDING
Local Brewery of the Year: BLACK IRIS
New Brewery of the Year: LIQUID LIGHT
Beer of the Year: ABSTRACT JUNGLE – MOCHA 47
Cidermaker of the Year: SEACIDER
Cider of the Year: GWYNT Y DDRAIG – BLACK DRAGON

The (Castle Rock) Beer of the Year awards have been running for ten years now, and gives our customers a chance to vote for their favourite beers and ciders enjoyed in our pubs over the past 12 months. Customers are not allowed to vote for Castle Rock beers (FIX!) so it’s a great way for us to find out what non-Castle Rock beers our customers are enjoying so we can further ensure we’re ordering in the right stuff. Of course, we do like to throw in a few surprises and rarities on the bar too.

What’s next? Showcasing the winners in our pubs of course! To ensure we’re getting some fresh new stuff on our bar, we’ve decided to spread the showcases out over the Winter months. Where possible everything below applies to all Castle Rock managed pubs, but there may be exceptions. Remember, you can:

  • Ask at the bar
  • Check the pubs’ real time menus on Untappd
  • Check the pub’s social media feeds

The Plan…

Mid/Late Nov 2018

We will be exclusively launching Liquid Light‘s brand new experimental IPA Electric Machine which will be available in keg and cask. This is Liquid Light’s very first cask offering.

CASK – Bread & Bitter, Cricketers Rest, Fox & Crown, Horse & Plough, Kean’s Head and Stratford Haven.
KEG – Barley Twist, Canalhouse, Embankment, Kean’s Head, Poppy & Pint, Vat & Fiddle.

The Lincolnshire Poacher and Yarn will  be showcasing Liquid Light’s juicy Session NEIPA ‘Less Dangerous’.

December & Christmas

Look out for two brand new seasonal Seacider ciders especially for the Christmas period, including Christmas Pudding, Ginger Bread and Mince Pie, as well as Gywnt y Ddraig‘s Black Dragon.

Early/Mid Jan 2019

Abstract Jungle are going to do an exclusive re-brew of Mocha 47, a cask coffee porter brewed in collaboration with our very own Cricketers Rest in Kimberley and using coffee from the lovely 47 Degrees. This went down extremely well, so be quick!

Mid/Late Jan 2019

We’ve reserved some fresh beers from North Riding Brewery including Mosaic, Cascade, Pecan Pie Porter, US IPA v33, Pale Ale v15 and Enigma.
