A SUPER(HUMAN) SATURDAY

ON SATURDAY, TWELVE OF OUR MANAGED PUBS OPENED THEIR DOORS FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 108 DAYS.

We’re still decompressing after a mad weekend, but aside from a few niggles, we’re genuinely thrilled and heartened with how things went. When you consider how trying our collective experiences have been during the past few months, we’re left with nothing but pride and respect for the Castle Rock family and what it has achieved behind the scenes and on the ground.

We have you, our lovely customers, to thank, too. You were understanding, considerate and clearly just delighted to be back in your favourite pubs and bars having a beer. Thank you for helping to take some of our anxiety away with your positivity and kindness.

Humbly, we would like to share that we have had some incredible messages of feedback from our customers too. Messages about how reassured and safe you felt, and yet at the same time how you still felt comfortable and that it still felt like the pub you have missed so much. Messages complimenting our organisation, procedures and signage and acknowledging the effort gone in. We even had a few licensing officers’ visits and they were really pleased with what we had done. Here’s one lovely email we received:

Just wanted to email you to say that I spent a few hours in the Embankment in Nottingham on Sunday and it was brilliant! Mercedes, Shereen, Pat, Freya and Alex were absolutely awesome! I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever! Felt so safe and so looked after! They were absolutely awesome and a credit to the pub!  Please pass on my massive thanks to them, and hopefully I will return soon! Everything was brilliant. Thank you!!

Did the weekend go without a hitch? No, of course not! We’ve got lots of things to iron out, most of them quite minor. We’ll be working on getting more signage out to our pubs this week, plus going through our online ordering app to ensure that they’re live and accurate – as well as to figure out the best way to redeem the £5 deposit for pre-bookings. All of our procedures are under constant review and we just ask once again that you bear with us while we tweak and adapt what we’ve got as we go. Check our website and social media for any and all updates.

We’re having a Zoom meeting with our managers today so that they can chat with each other about how their weekend went and share ideas. (But, spoiler alert, we’re also going to tell them how gosh darn proud of them all we are, too.)
