This year’s International Women’s Day was truly unforgettable!

On Friday 8th March, we launched our International Women’s Collaboration Brew Day beer, Order + Disorder, in the Old Cold Store at the Vat and Fiddle.

Order + Disorder is a 4.0% pale ale, brewed in collaboration with women’s beer group, No Half Measures, and with help from local women who joined us on the brew day.

The evening kicked off with an exclusive tutored tasting session led by No Half Measures Lucy and Steph, both of whom are industry experts with roles at Let’s Beer and Murphy & Son respectively. The tasting featured both versions of Order + Disorder brewed on our brew day back in February, one with UK hops and the other with hops from New Zealand.

Lucy had attendees partake in a blind taste test, where they explored the beers’ aroma, appearance, mouthfeel and all the things that make a great beer; while Steph was able to explain the decisions we made throughout building the recipe together, and the brew process itself.

Tutored tastings complete, we opened the doors to the Old Cold Store for the “main event”! We celebrated the launch of both beers with the opportunity to buy exclusive screen prints made by the talented women involved in our brew day and live music from a couple of Nottingham’s favourite bands, Midnight Rodeo and Catmilk! And of course, Order + Disorder Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 featured on the bar all night long!

The event was pay-what-you-feel, with all proceeds going to the Nottingham Women’s Centre. We would like to say thank you to everyone who attended… Not only did we sell over two gallons of our International Women’s Day beer, your donations helped us to raise over £1000 for Nottingham Women’s Centre!

A massive thank you to everyone who attended and contributed; it wouldn’t have been possible without your support! Special thanks to No Half Measures for partnering with us to create this beer. And to Steph from Murphy & Son, Lucy from Let’s Beer, and Lizzie from Pop-up Print Making for their contributions on our brew day and launch event. Also, to the Vat and Fiddle team for being such excellent hosts, as well as to Midnight Rodeo and Catmilk for setting the tone for our celebrations! A big thank you to Nigel for taking some amazing pictures of the night and for letting us use them!

Last but not least, a heartfelt thank you to Nottingham Women’s Centre for the vital services they continue to provide all year round. And it was a pleasure to be joined by Wez from Nottingham Women’s Centre for the second year running at our open brew day!

10p from every pint of Order + Disorder sold is donated to Nottingham Women’s Centre.
At our International Women’s Day event in the Old Cold Store, 100% of the sales of Order + Disorder raised funds for Nottingham Women’s Centre. 100% of the sales from our tutored tasting session and of the screen prints also went to the charity.
