Here at Castle Rock Brewery, brewing great beers is at the heart of what we do. So, we were privileged when the IBD asked us to host a Young Members Brew Day. This exciting opportunity allows young and early career brewers to take part in a fun and social brew day, run by our very own brewery manager, Jon Edger. The other brew day took place in Stirchley, with our good friends at Attic Brew Co.
Alongside Danny, our Pilot Project brewer, Jon guided the group in designing and producing a hop-forward cask beer. The day provided the chance for the group to immerse themselves in every stage of the brewing process here at Castle Rock. And ended with a delicious lunch at Canalhouse, naturally.
The beer will be released at the IBD Midland Section Dinner where it will be enjoyed by a crowd of connoisseurs… so no pressure!
The beer created by the group will be judged against a beer brewed in competition by Attic Brew Co. The judging takes place at the IBD Midland Section Dinner on 2nd February at Burton Town Hall. During the dinner, members will have the opportunity to taste and vote for their favourite beer, with the winning team receiving an engraved commemorative glass tankard.
The evening also raises funds for the Incorporated Brewers Benevolent Society which aims to provide relief and maintenance to those in the brewing and distilling industries suffering financial hardship.
We eagerly await the results… May the best team win!
