That’s right, this January we’re celebrating the humble pub all month long. And we are inviting you to do the same.
Reading this, you might be someone that visits the pub a little or often; for timeout or for time ‘out-out’; or perhaps it’s where you work or just an important part of your life. Either way, we’re talking to you.
You’ll all know already (whether from our relentless campaigning over the years or the general media), January is a difficult time for pubs and breweries. But, we also all know that pubs are a shining light in our communities. Not only do they bring people together to share drink, food and make memories, they also provide an essential space for individuals and community groups to meet, or even form.
Our pubs are renowned for their commitment to and participation in the community. A few notable mentions include Heron Music Café at the Poppy and Pint, which works to bring together those with mental health difficulties and dementia through music. Or hobby and interest groups like the free ‘Sew-cial’ sessions at the Lincolnshire Poacher and the ‘Get Men Talking’ informal meet-ups at the Fox & Grapes. The list goes on and on!
One thing is for certain, pubs mean a lot to us, and if they should go, we would miss them.
So, to help support pubs during the most challenging month of the year, we are launching our new campaign, #31PubsinJanuary
The challenge is simple: visit 31 pubs in January!
Here’s how you can get involved:
January is a notoriously difficult month for the industry. And with rising costs such as increased wages and National Insurance contributions, the challenges we face continue to grow.
Quiet months can be devastating for the pubs, but by visiting pubs this January, you help them to weather the storm and keep their doors open for the people who depend on them.
Pubs are more than just “boozers.” They’re places where friendships are made, communities are strengthened, and memories are created. A number of our customers and Castle Rockians have provided some quotes about what pubs mean to them, read them below!
