** Update: 4:30pm, 14th April 22 **
Getting hold of and distributing beer from Ukraine has been no mean feat. We are so thankful to Euroboozer and their drivers for giving us the opportunity to help support the people of Ukraine and very pleased to announce the beer was dropped to our brewery about an hour ago. We are already on the roads distributing it to our pubs, with the hopes of launching as soon as possible. Thank you in advance for your support. #DrinkersForUkraine

From this Thursday (14th April) we will proudly be serving Varvar Brew beers on the bar in our pubs*.

The Kyiv-based brewery has been closed since the country came under siege nearly 11 weeks ago. However, thanks to the monumental efforts of craft beer distributor Euroboozer, around 30,000 pints worth of beer have been saved and sold. In fact, support across the UK food & drink industry meant the stock was pre-ordered and sold out within days of the scheme’s inception.

Euroboozer have paid Varvar Brew in full (a total of around €55,458.86 so far) and profits made from resales will be donated via www.drinkersforukraine.com. Likewise, any profits Castle Rock make from selling the beer in the pubs will be donated to help raise funds for humanitarian support in Ukraine. Varvar will be using the money from the direct sale of the stock to help fund food, medicine, to pay taxes and wages, and to support the country as a whole.

We are extremely proud to be part of the hundred of pubs, bars and restaurants to come together to support the brewery.

At 6pm, we hope you will join us in sharing pictures on social media using the hashtag #DrinkersForUkraine.

About Varvar Brew

An independent and ambitious craft brewery founded in a former sawmill in Kyiv, Ukraine, in 2015. The brewery has garnered a loyal following within Ukraine’s burgeoning craft beer scene. They run two brewhouses, 2,000L and 500L, and they produce over 750,000L of beer per year across four lines: traditional craft, modern craft, barrel-aged and sours, and experimental.

Some of the brewery’s recent tours of the UK have included collaborations with Siren (Mavka, imperial porter), Marble (Reminiscence, old ale), Pomona Island (Ratamahatta, NEIPA), and Nottingham’s own Neon Raptor (Rise & Paul, NEIPA).

About Euroboozer

Euroboozer was set up by beer lover Martyn Railton and initially imported Austrian brands Stiegl, Schremser and Hirter. Before long, they had branched out across Europe and the Atlantic, helping to drive the craft beer trend in the UK.

Nineteen years on, they have offices and a warehouse in Hertfordshire and now supply some of the finest food and beverage establishments and retailers in the country.
