A magnificent final leg finish of 57 by newcomer Deborah Cooper gave victory for the Horse and Jockey’s darts team in the final of the Nottingham Central Mixed Darts Knockout Cup in April.
The win, against The Beacon away at the neutral Park Tavern was all the sweeter for the B division Horse and Jockey’s 20 member squad whose journey to the final came with victories over seemingly superior A division opponents.
Team captain, Steve Davie, says their cup success was a real team effort with everyone rising the challenge against some truly great teams. “Some of our team are old darts legends, used to the nerves and excitement of a big final, but I think our success this year also comes thanks to the newcomers who really made it possible.”
Horse and Jockey landlady and team member Marie Frost says victory is all down to Steve’s inspired captaincy, adding, “PS, mate, make mine a double!”.
