Castle Rock Brewery and the celebrated Anmarie Spaziano from Annie’s Burger Shack on Stoney Street have created the ‘must have’ combination of real ale and a burger for the Nottingham Food and Drink Festival 2011. This year’s event runs from Wednesday 29 June until Sunday 10 July.

The Festival burger features locally sourced minced beef and a square sausage slice, topped with generous helpings of mushrooms and HP Sauce, which has its origins in Nottinghamshire. Anmarie is no stranger when it comes to serving up tasty creations with her Burger Shack recently named in the top ten places for burgers in the UK in an online countdown by MSN and Castle Rock’s award winning beers are nationally recognised.

Castle Rock’s contribution to this culinary double act is Malt Loaf, a new beer which will be available at pubs including the Keans Head, Canalhouse, the Vat & Fiddle and the Bread and Bitter, whose logo inspired the beer’s pump clip. Malt Loaf is a 4.5% dark traditional bitter, described as having a well-rounded full flavour with some residual sweetness and a balanced hop taste.
