From Friday 1 to Sunday 3 April, manager Charlie Blomeley says it would be foolish to miss the weekend where everyone is welcome not just to mark the pub’s return but also to honour the work of the local fire-fighters.
“Their prompt and effective action on the night of the fire kept the fabric of the building intact. If things had been worse, I don’t think we’d be open yet. Our spirits were dampened, but thanks to them, the builders and my colleagues on the staff, we were back serving the community within three months.
“Our fire anniversary weekend will have a burning theme – hot food, outdoor BBQ, and a themed quiz where all the proceeds with go to the Fire Fighters Charity.
The Willowbrook, a former private members’ club, first reopened as a public house on St George’s Day 2014 following a £300,000 refurbishment by Castle Rock Brewery.
